National engineering awards put Fife firmly on the map
Glenrothes based engineering company, Fife Fabrications, scoop two awards at a prestigious ceremony - with a little help from Fife Council.
The company attended the Subcon Exhibition and Conference event in Birmingham where they won the Best Subcontractor (Forming and Fabrication) and Best Health, Safety and Environmental Practice awards. Fife Fabrications celebrated their win with Chair of the Environment and Transportation Committee, Councillor Tony Martin, who they invited along as a thank you for all the help they have received through Development Services’ Market Development Programme. The company were also runners-up for the overall award for Excellence and Engineering.
Commenting on Fife Fabrications’ success Councillor Tony Martin said: “I was delighted to attend the Subcon awards ceremony with Fife Fabrications to show support for the company on behalf of Fife Council.
“The Market Development Programme aims to make it easy for businesses to showcase their services at national and international exhibitions and trade shows.
“Providing financial and logistic support, the programme really allows Fife firms to spread their wings and reach new markets. It helps to increase companies’ profiles as well as providing an opportunity to meet with existing customers and target new business. As a result of the last Subcon exhibition in 2006, between the five Fife companies that participated, over 100 enquiries were received and orders in excess of £2million secured which is tremendous.
“Fife Fabrications winning this award helps put Fife firmly on the map as a centre of engineering excellence in the UK.”
Fife Fabrication’s Director, Archie Smith said: “As a result of Fife Council’s support through its Market Development Programme, we exhibit at events throughout the UK, generating new business and raising the profile of Fife Fabrications and Fife.
“We were delighted to invite Councillor Martin along to the awards ceremony to share our excitement and show our appreciation.
“We’ve been involved with Fife Council’s Market Development Programme for well over 20 years and attend at least three trade exhibitions each year with the programme’s help. Without the Council’s support, this would just not be possible.”
As well as attending the award ceremony, Councillor Martin also visited the businesses taking part on this year’s Fife stand, including Glenrothes based companies Fife Fabrications, ATC Ltd, Ladybank firm GS Brown and PR2 Engineering which is based in Dysart.
